Copenhagen Comedy Academy was founded by Christine Anne Goertz, who transitioned from engineering to becoming a romance-adventure novelist. Christine immersed herself in the Los Angeles acting scene for ten years. She was trained by The Groundlings Sketch Comedy Program, performed improv all over the city, wrote for sketch comedy shows at IOWest, and later pursued dramatic acting after training at the Baron Brown Studio.
CCA has a dual purpose: to cultivate clear, concise thought and to teach students to spread joy through humor. We introduce the ‘Notes of Comedy,’ where, much like a guitarist selects chords to craft a melody, a comedian chooses from various comedic structures to develop their routine. While our main emphasis is on writing, we also incorporate Linklater Voicework and Meisner Techniques to enhance students’ stage presence and foster a connection with the audience.
